Congratulations to Midwest players John Powless of Madison, Wi., and Lyn Tietz of Hinsdale, Il., for being selected as two players who will represent the United States at the 29th ITF Super-Seniors World Team Championships hosted by Tennis Seniors Australia. Powless will compete in the Bitsy Grant Cup, and Tietz will compete in the Althea Gibson Cup.  The top American tennis players in age groups from 60-80 for men and 60-75 for women will compete, November 2-7, in Perth, Australia.

The ITF Seniors/Super-Seniors World Team Championships is the most coveted team event on the ITF Seniors circuit. Since its inception in 1981, the number of players competing in this event has increased year by year. In 1993, the ITF divided the Seniors World Championships into two groups--Seniors (35- to 55-years old) and Super-Seniors (60- to 80-years old for men and 60- to 75-years old for women).

The ITF has received 93 team entries from 21 countries for the 2009 ITF Super-Seniors World Team Championships.

Following the ITF Seniors World Team Championships, the World Individual Championships will take place November 8-15.
