How was your team formed, and how did members get involved in Tennis on Campus?
UW-Milwaukee: Milwaukee Club Tennis was founded in 2006 by 6 players who wanted to play tennis in college. They put their hearts and souls into making this team established at UW-Milwaukee and slowly but surely gained more players from advertising on campus, social media, word of mouth, radio ads, and flyers put up around UWM.
What does your team do for fun?
UW-Milwaukee: We at Milwaukee Club Tennis pride ourselves in being a very social team. From meeting players at the Southern & Western Open every summer for a reunion, to traveling to different states on break and planning weekends with other tennis players as well as hosting social tournaments and events on our own campus. This year alone Milwaukee has had players from several other teams in the Midwest spend the weekend with them in Milwaukee, we have also planned quads and pick up matches and practice with closer teams such as Marquette and Madison. We try to plan activities that allow us to spend as much time with our friends from Tennis on Campus off of the court as well as on the court.
What makes your team unique?
UW-Milwaukee: Milwaukee is unique because of how social we are with other teams. Whether that's through social media or social activities on the court. We also believe that our trusty City of Milwaukee Flag is our good luck charm, and we warm up in between matches with some Mario Tennis on Nintendo 64 to mentally prepare ourselves for the next match.
How has your season gone so far?
UW-Milwaukee: Milwaukee is having their best season ever on and off of the court. Not only did we take down several rivals on the court but we also upped our team game up off of the court as well. We hosted two large tournaments over the span of two months. One of those being our first every Alumni hybrid social tournament. We also have gotten our team to do a large amount of volunteering on and off campus to give back to the community, our biggest volunteering event is taking place on December 10th which is composed of giving out free food and toys to families in need for the Salvation Army.
We also have upped our social media game AND launched our first ever website!
