Indy Parks and Recreation, representatives of Lilly Endowment, Inc., the Indianapolis Parks Foundation (IPF) and Christel House Academy youth dedicated 60 renovated public tennis courts in parks across Marion County. The tennis court upgrades, funded by a $1.5 million investment by Lilly Endowment, Inc., provides safer and more accessible play spaces in parks.

In addition to resurfacing, courts in 12 Indy Parks were equipped with new nets and updated fencing. Many of the courts were lined to meet the United States Tennis Association (USTA) standards for 10 & Under Tennis.
"We are so thankful for the generosity of the Lilly Endowment and their commitment to improving the quality of life for Indianapolis neighborhoods," said John Williams, Indy Parks Director. "Providing funding to renovate such a large number of tennis courts in parks across the county allows Indy Parks to continue creating fun, safe, engaging and sustainable parks for the community."

Nancy Carr, Executive Director of the National Junior Tennis League (NJTL), said "Thanks to the leadership of Indy Parks, the Indianapolis Parks Foundation and the Lilly Endowment, more than 1,000 children throughout Marion County will reap the benefits of these improvements during NJTL’s summer programs. The improvements will also benefit Central Indiana Tennis Association (CITA) team and league players, and promote this lifetime sports to others."

Krannert Park 605 S. High School Road
Christian Park (Fall 2012) 4200 English Avenue
Riverside Park 2420 E. Riverside Dr.
Douglass Park 1616 E. 25th St.
Sahm Park 6801 E. 91st St.
Ellenberger Park 1501 Saint Clair St.
Tarkington Park 45 W. 40th St.
