 TENNIS FOR YOUR HEALTH 

Is it any wonder that scientists and physicians around the world view tennis as the most healthful activity in which you can participate?  There may be other sports that can provide excellent health benefits and some which can provide mental and emotional growth.  But no sport other than tennis has ever been acclaimed from all disciplines as one that develops great benefits physically, mentally and emotionally.

Tennis is a sport for kids to learn early in life.  What parent wouldn’t want their children to get these benefits through their growing years?

It’s not too late for adults and seniors too!  The human system can be trained and improved at any stage of life.

Here’s the key… you must begin playing tennis now to get these benefits throughout your lifetime.  Tennis is truly the sport for a lifetime!  It’s been proven.

"Healthy Tennis" by Dr. Peter Sallay

Dr. Peter Sallay is a board certified orthopedic surgeon practicing at Methodist Sports Medicine Center in Indianapolis, Indiana. He has served as the orthopedic consultant for the ATP tour’s Indianapolis Tennis Championships for the last 12 years and is also the team physician for Hanover College and Cathedral High School.  Dr. Sallay will be contributing new content where he will address many of the health related issues that revolve around the sport of tennis. Subjects will include biomechanics of tennis, injury prevention, nutrition, and specific injuries to the musculoskeletal system. His goal is to share useful information that will help you enjoy playing tennis at your best while avoiding injury.

USTA and Cleveland Clinic Partner to Promote Health Benefits

The USTA and The Cleveland Clinic Heart Center, the No.1 heart care facility in the nation (U.S. News & World Report survey), announced a collaboration in September 2004 to heighten the public’s awareness of the cardiovascular benefits of playing tennis, exercising regularly and adopting a healthy lifestyle.  The Cleveland Clinic has been ranked “No. 1” in the nation for cardiac care by U.S. News & World Report every year since 1995. New Fitness Workout Sweeping The Nation

A new fitness workout is sweeping tennis courts across the country and you don't have to be a player to benefit.  The workout is called cardio tennis. Tennis Elbow is Not Caused Due to Improperly Sized Tennis Racket Grip

Clinicians attending to patients suffering from tennis elbow ask them to alter the grip size of their racket to ease muscle fatigue. A new study evaluating the muscle firing patterns in the forearm demonstrates that grip size has no bearing on the development of tendonitis.  Click here for more.
