The morning classroom educational sessions included Bobby Bernstein, USTA Manager of Talent Identification and Development, who presented on Dartfish Video Analysis Software. This software allows for coaches to video tape their students and analyzes their strokes. Dr. Gary Sailes from Indiana University spoke about the mental aspect of the game, and J. Webb Horton, Head Men’s Tennis and Assistant Athletic Director of Florida Gulf Coast University, discussed the importance of preparing players for college tennis.
In addition to a great morning of presentations, the coaches then attended an afternoon full of on-court drills. Bobby Bernstein and J. Webb Horton offered great on-court drills. Mark Bey, Founder and Director of CARE Academy in Libertyville, IL and Kurt Ehrhardt from Five Seasons Sports Country Club in Indianapolis, IN also participated.
The annual Spring Meeting for ATA’s Mid-TAC community was held on May 3, 2009. The workshop was a success and the Midwest Coaches Commission looks forward to working with the Diversity and Inclusion Committee on future projects.
